Principal Marjorie Detkin’s Background
Connecting With Art was started by Marjorie in 2011. Her extensive background includes:
- B.F.A. in Painting from Boston University, study at the Art Students League, School of Visual Arts
- M.A. in Art Therapy from New York University
- Certificate from Boston University's Institute for Geriatric Social Work.
- Worked as an art therapist with adults in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, community mental health centers and nursing homes
- Program manager for numerous elder services organizations.
Marjorie has served as a longstanding board member at several non-profit organizations, including Lahey Health Behavioral Services and the Marblehead Arts Association.
